Chowder Bay

Chowder Bay is located in north Sydney and offers a fantastic diving experience for those who enjoy finding odd or rare fish and invertebrates.

The majority of the fish in the bay and harbor are temperate species one typically finds in southern Australia, however many of the fish are tropical in origin and come down from the Coral Sea as larvae or juveniles in the East Australian Current.

Seen from offshore is a collection of charming buildings that comprise the Sydney Institute of Marine Science and Plunge Diving.

Just to the south is the fishing and ferry wharf ¬†where you’ll find the endemic species of seahorse Hippocampus whitei.
